Frequently Asked Questions

Which products require ONSSA authorization?
All food products (processed or fresh), animal-origin products, plants and plant products, cosmetics and hygiene products, animal feed and phytosanitary products require ONSSA authorization or notification before import to Morocco.
How long does it take to obtain authorization?
Timelines vary by product type. For a phytosanitary certificate: 3-10 days. For a food product: 5-15 days. For cosmetics: 10-30 days. These timelines may be extended if additional information is requested.
Is the authorization valid for all imports?
ONSSA authorization can be one-time (for a single import) or permanent (valid 1 to 3 years for regular imports of the same product). Permanent authorization is recommended for regular importers.
What happens in case of non-compliance?
In case of non-compliance during inspection, goods may be rejected, destroyed or re-exported at the importer's expense. This is why we verify your product compliance BEFORE shipment to avoid these costly situations.
Do labels need to be translated to Arabic?
Yes, Moroccan regulations require that food and cosmetic product labels include at minimum the mandatory mentions in Arabic language (name, ingredients, allergens, dates, weight, origin, etc.). We can assist with adapting your labels.
